While looking for a new apartment, I asked myself which neighborhood is well-connected to the public transit service.
Unfortunately, the only map available is the city map displaying all available routes. Such maps may be misguiding if one wants to identify which borough has the best service (or the worst). A network map only provides details about the routing, but not the frequency of services. A low frequency service (few passages per day) is represented the same way as a high frequency service (more than 60 passages in the same day).
Furthermore, the network map does not necessarily provide information about the stops' location. A good example is a bus on a highway: the route of the bus gives the impression that it services adjacent boroughs, when it in fact never stops!
That is how I had the idea of creating a heat map, based on the service frequency for each bus stop. Instead of focusing on the route, this map provides details on the service frequency by borough. In general, the heavier a borough is serviced, the easier it will be to travel from point A to point B.
